Can you believe we are about to start the fourth quarter? I want to remind you to take a few minutes this week to set your goals and intentions for the next 3 months. When you wake up on December 31st, what do you want things to look like? What do you want to have accomplished? To have set in motion?
While you are doing this, I also encourage you to spend a few minutes thinking about how you want to start off the next year. We don’t magically wake up on January 1st with a new playbook and a new set of prospective clients waiting on our doorstep. The things you start doing now (in the fourth quarter) are what will give you momentum and set you up for success as you begin the new year.
Start with thinking about how you want each aspect of your life to look by the end of the year. Think about family & home life, your work or business, your health & wellbeing, your spiritual & emotional connection, your friends & community, your financial health, and anything else that matters to you.
Then start the process of actively goal setting. Decide what you want to achieve. Write it down to make it real & tangible. Give yourself a due date to put the pressure on. Create a list of all the actions you need to take to make this goal a reality. Prioritize that list so you know where to start first and what actions will give you the biggest return. Finally, just get started. Take an action. Do something!
I also find it helpful to create a theme for the quarter. One central idea you are working on is that all the goals and actions align. It helps you stay focused and to know what the priorities are when all the little daily emergencies pop up. For me, the fourth quarter is all about the process.
Finally, ask yourself WHY. Why are these the goals you have set? Why are these important to you? Why is now the time to focus on them? The point here is to make sure that you have enough motivation behind your goals to push you through when things get hard or you hit obstacles along the way.
